Wish to be a Donor?Eligibility to become a DonorIf you would like to assist others in achieving a family, please consider the eligibility criteria listed in the information sheet Eligibility to be a sperm, egg or embryo donor information sheet. For further information please contact our Donor Coordinators for a confidential phone consultation regarding your eligibility of becoming a Donor. Eligibiltiy to become a Recipient (eggs, sperm or embryos)Eligibility to become an Egg RecipientThe donor egg program is available where women do not produce their own eggs, haven't been able to achieve an ongoing pregnancy with their own eggs or have been advised not to use their own eggs due to a genetic disorder or where it is medically not safe to use their own eggs. Eligibility to become a Sperm RecipientThe donor sperm program is available where the male partner has no sperm or very low semen parameters, where there is a risk of passing on a genetic abnormality to a child or where there are ejaculatory problems. Single women with medical infertility are able to access the donor sperm program but lack of a male partner is deemed social infertility and doesn't meet the eligibility criteria under the SA Reproductive Technology (Clinical Practices) Act 1988. Eligibility to become an Embryo RecipientIn SA, VIC & NT the donor embryo program is available to couples where there is both a male and a female medical infertility problem. There are only very limited numbers of embryos donated so availability is restricted to: - Women with premature menopause or congenital absence of ovaries and where their partner has severe male factor infertility.
- Couples who have been advised not to use their own gametes (eggs and sperm) due to a hereditary disorder
- Couples who have had repeated IVF failure attributed to an egg or sperm problem.
Currently Repromed is not adding any further patients to the waiting list for embryos due to lack of embryos for donation. |
